The Challenge...

So it has been about two months since I took the FTHB (First Time Home Buyers) workshop. I just made my second deposit into my dedicated savings account and I feel like I'm making progress. That is until I get paid...

I'm finding it very difficult to "keep my eye on the prize". I've been saying for months that I'm excited to buy my own place but I've been having these urges to just spend money. I see my savings account and just tempted to spend it all. I know I'm not going to do it, but I just can't help myself! I'm trying to take it one day at a time I guess. The holiday season will make it very difficult. I can do it. I can do it. I can do it! Until next time...

Dedicated Savings Account

So today I opened my dedicated savings account for my future home. I was a little nervous. Why you may ask? I've taken the first step; I've laid the first stone; I took the path least followed; whatever you call it I am on the path to homeownership! There is literally no turning back now. If I chicken out, I lose the money I'm investing. I'm committed to doing this.

I remember when I was younger and driving through upstate New York with my dad, he made it a point to let me know that owning a home was an important thing to do. Now as an adult, I can totally see what he means. There is nothing wrong with renting. But there is something about paying a mortgage that gives you control over your place. Instead of giving your money to another home owner, YOU are the home owner!

Over the next several months, I'll be updating this blog as often as possible to keep you up to date on my journey to homeownership. I got the idea from a friend and I found her blog incredibly helpful and inspirational. I hope that this blog will serve a similar purpose to you all. If you'd like to donate to my road to homeownership, here's the link ;-). See you soon!
