I Moved!

Well, I actually moved 4 weeks ago but it has seriously taken me this long to get my act together. There have been a series of unfortunate events in my personal life in the past month that has kept me occupied. 

However, I can say that I've been living on my own for a month now. And I love it. 

Getting up in the morning and having a routine is pretty cool. Wake up. Make a cup of coffee. Watch the morning news from my kitchen. Make some breakfast. Watch some Scandal or Agents of Shield. Go to work.

It's fantastic. I'm so happy to be in my own home! I still need to get a few things. But I'm taking my time. And unfortunately, I do not have a limitless bank account lol. Check out the pics below!

Renovations. Are. Done!!!!!!

Renovations started on Thursday, May 30th, 2013.

After four months of arduous, stressful, adventurous, challenging, and EXPENSIVE work, I can finally say, MY APARTMENT IS READY!

Painting is almost finished, just a few areas that need to be touched up but it's about 90% done.

Kitchen is done.

Floors are done.

Move in date is set!

Now I just need to find time to pack! Work has been cray cray! Check out the photo's below! :-)

The End...

So it's been a minute since my last post. My apologies! The beginning of the school year is always the busiest at work!

So I am in the final stages of getting the apartment move-in ready!!!

All the appliances are installed.

Kitchen backsplash is being grouted.

Floors have been sanded, repaired, and sealed.

Painting will commence next week.

And most importantly...I have set a date to officially move in! October 19!

This has been a very long, stressful, expensive journey, but by far the most rewarding, exciting, and thrilling of my life. I honestly can't be more grateful. Stay tuned for pics after painting has been completed! In the meantime, check out the pics below!

I have Countertops!

Hi y'all!

They say good things comes to those who wait! Indeed! Today, after a long and arduous search, I have finally installed countertops in my apartment. After a recommendation from my super-awesome neighbor, I went to a local granite and tile shop to inquire about a stone surface. They had so much stone to choose from!

I decided on a black stone with some beautiful gray specks. It was actually my second choice as the first stone I like, a black quartz was out of stock. I am so very glad I went with the second choice. I actually like it more than the other!

They came today to install. It took 5 workers to carry the stone up the two flights of stairs and get it installed on the cabinets. That stone was HEAVY! I have to admit, these people work really really hard. Luckily, all of my cabinets were already level (as the kitchen is brand new!) and little prep work was needed.

In all, it took less than 45 minutes to install countertops and sink and clean up. I was very impressed by the workers and will definitely be recommending this place to other stone seekers. Add to the fact that the stone was incredibly well-priced and I am a happy camper!! Check out the pics below.

The next steps are to install remaining appliances, install backsplash, repair and refinish floors, paint and I am ready to move in! It's all coming together quite nicely!

7th Inning Stretch!

I'm back from vacation! I went to San Diego Comic Con last week and it was a blast. Saw some cool celebs, watched some awesome TV show panels and shouted at John Barrowman.

As for the apartment, it's seriously almost done. While I was away, the remaining cabinets were installed as were the new moldings. The place is looking real spiffy! All that's left to do (and it's the most important!) is get a countertop, install stove and microwave, sand floors and paint the apartment! The end is near! So very near!! Another Kitchen update!

Hey y'all! Just wanted to post another update on the kitchen. All of the cabinets have been installed and I put lights in. Putting in recessed lights was the best thing ever! It looks so HGTV! Now just waiting for moldings to go in, appliances, kitchen handles and knobs, light fixtures and kitchen countertop! The place is shaping up nicely. I can't wait to have you all over! :-)

Almost done!

This is all so surreal. 

I sometimes have to remind myself that this is really happening!

Kitchen appliances were delivered Saturday (sans Microwave, it's on backorder but no one told me this -_-) and look amazing. However, the range oven was delivered with a dent on the side of it. I called Best Buy and they offered me a 10% reduction in price in the form of a gift card which I will use to buy the washer and dryer at the end of the year. The dent is in a place where it cannot be seen once it is fully integrated in the kitchen. 

The cabinets are being installed today and tomorrow and look official. I am so pleased with how they look! However, I need to follow up on the hinges. I feel like I bought hinge damper's but when I closed the cabinets doors, they slammed shut. Gotta look into this! I really really wanted door dampers. I like my silence! Below are some pictures.
